Llamas

Llamas have been used as pack animals, for thousands of years and their domestication was already at least 3000 years old when the Inca people populated parts of South America around 1100 a.d.

They have a very laid back attitude and learn quickly. Carrying a pack seems to come naturally to them and their natural curiosity means that they enjoy getting out and about.

With a natural desire to maintain their own personal space they are easy to handle and safe even for children.

Llamas are members of the Camelid family and are related to Camels, Alpaca, Guanaco and Vicuna. They are a very social animal and require the company of their own kind- or of a close relative like the Alpaca.
